Another mystery solved!

We decided to go to the famous Gurney Drive hawker stall for dinner yesterday. Currently the old location is under renovation. They move the whole community to an empty ground next to Grand View Condominium. The parking is very expensive, thanks to the "pai kia" who is collecting the fee, it is legal though, cos the land belongs to them. Yes it is RM2.00 per car.

We know what we wants so we headed straight to this Char Koay Teow stall. This is the best Char Koay Teow so far. The stall has no name. Just need to make sure you take a look good at this old man's face. His trademark is his face. We just call it "Ah Cek Char Koay Teow".

Ordered 2 plates, for wifey and me. RM3.00 each. That is why i complained that the parking is expensive. Almost the same price as my Char Koay Teow.

A closer look. You see the big shrimps??? RM3 far justify the final product. The whole plate is gone in 180 seconds. hahaha....

Ordered this "Keat Na Sem Boi", wifey ordered "Kek Hwa Teh".

As usual, you dun go to gurney drive hawker stall for one plate. There are 3 to 5 different stalls selling the famous Penang Asam Laksa. We prefer this stall.

A big bowl of laksa only cost RM3.00. See the fish ball? There are chunks of sardine fish in it. Not the Can Sardine. Fresh sardine fish.

After searching around, my favorite wantan noodle stall was not open for business. I have to settle for this stall instead.
It looks good. Cost me RM3.00. Well it is not up to my expectation. I give it only 5 out of 10.
Hopefully by next month, they will shift back to the old location. The old location is along the famous Gurney Drive, by the beach, next to Gurney Plaza. The next time you are in Penang, you have to make sure you put down gurney drive as one of the many places for dinner!

Yam & Ti Koi From Taiping

Flooding backyard just asked me the other day, "... why your blog all about food..???" Well, me and my colleague are a bunch that loves to eat. Whenever we go outstation, we will come back with lots of new food. This is brought back from Taiping by Mr. Teoh and KT.
Background of "Ti Koi". Chinese usually eat ti koi during Chinese New Year. Ti koi is in Hokkien dialect refering to sweet cake. I will not go into detail why we eat ti koi during chinese new year. Maybe i will write about that sometimes.
As you can see below, this yam & ti koi is deep fried. The same stall which sell this also selling pisang goreng. I assume the outer crispy layer is the same flour mixture as the pisang goreng.

This is how it looks like when broken into two.

A closer look. It consist of 3 layers. The first layer is the golden brown, flour mixture. It is crispy and the main use for this is to bond the yam and ti koi together. The second layer, if you can see the slightyly white layer is the yam. It is a bit to the salty side and crunchy. The third layer the brownish, kaya like, is the ti koi. Ti koi is sweet and stick to your teeth. Kinda like gummy bear.
Take a bite into this. Let me tell you, it is like heaven on earth, err... close la. Imagine sinking your teeth into the crispy layer, then the salty crunchy yam, and finally the sweet ti koi. When they blended in your mouth, your mind will force you to quickly finish and swallow and go for the second bite and third and... wow...

The next time you get a chance to go to taiping, stop by the market. Enjoy this yam and ti koi dessert. You will get addicted.

King Kong.. Or Orang Utan???

This is King Kong hahaha!!! Actually it is "Biskut Campuran". I name it King Kong because of the packaging. It looks like a King Kong holding a plate of this "Biskut Campuran". Not all the people i know like to eat this. I am crazy about this King Kong!

The most important part, the ingredients. Let's see: Tepung Gandum= Flour, Kelapa = Coconut, Telur = Egg, Gula = Sugar, and Bahan Perasa = Flavoring No. 19140

Unpacked, this is how it looks like. It consist of 3 layers. Yellow, brownish and yellow. The yellow part is actually made of the mixture of Flour, Sugar, Egg and the flavoring. The brownish part is purely coconut. My dear wife only eat the yellow part.

Hei! Do you know what this looks like?? Take a guess??? Yes! Sausage McMuffin! The breakfast meal from Mc D. Don't you think so??

I love this cookie since my childhood. It is really hard to find this cookie now. I have not even once see it in Penang. I bought a dozen of them last week when i was back to Kuching for business. It is CHEAP!!!! RM0.10 each!!! Well, if you see one of this, you should pick one up and try. Alrighty, Good Luck in Finding KING KONG!

Crib ..

As promised, this is the crib for my baby. Very simple looking. 2 adjustment. And they send the right one, it is white.

This is the cute bear logo at the front part of the crib. "Baby City"

We put the crib on the left side of the bed. Close to my wife. I guess she will be doing the routine 2 hours feeding.

Side view of the crib. Notice the bottom part, it is meant for storage. Kinda cool.

Another side view, notice the two button on the railing, if you pull them, you can lower the right railing. Easier to access the baby, and when the railing is down, can serve as a day bed. Multi usage, not bad huh..

Well, that's all for the crib review, wait for my "King Kong" review. Hint: it is not about the movie.
Nite Nite!

Physically at work, mind ????

Staring at the 19" Dell LCD monitor long enough will make your eyes tired. Since 10 am this morning i am rushing the artwork for a few clients.. this time involved lots of extracting. The computer i am working with is not making my job easier... lagging, well, have to work with this machine for the time being. Hoping to get a Duo-core Dell unit soon.

The owner from BEBE shop called this afternoon around 2.00pm, they will deliver and install the baby crib. I have not call my dear wife to ask her if they deliver the right one, it is suppose to be white in color. Hmm on the second thought, she will call me if the delivery is wrong. Anyway, i will take a few shots of the crib and post it up.

We went and custom ordered the mattress for the crib last evening. The size of the crib is kinda odd 2.5' x 4', or to be exact, 28" x 48", normal size will be either 2' x 4' or 2.5' x 4.5'. We ordered it from this furniture shop called Verona Design. The branch manager Mr William was very helpful, show us a few options, and finally we settled for a fibre mattress, better support for the baby. Since the mattress will have to be custom make, it will take about a week to deliver.

Wait for my picture later tonight...

Peace out!
